Halibut Managers Workgroup to Meet
Teleconference Date: August 5, 2008
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) announces a change in the date and format of the Area 2A Pacific halibut managers meeting. The meeting, previously scheduled for August 7, 2008 at the Council office, has been changed to a conference call on August 5, 2008.

The conference call will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Purpose of the Meeting
The purpose of the conference call is to allow an exchange of information and ideas among managers and industry representatives from Area 2A, primarily as they relate to the upcoming International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) workshop on catch apportionment. The objective of the meeting will be to develop a consensus on a catch apportionment strategy that will be both fair and biologically sound, for presentation at the IPHC workshop on September 4, 2008. The workgroup is not a committee of the Council, however, the Council has expressed interest in having a report from the workgroup and has offered to facilitate the meeting.
