The Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (Pacific Council) Ad Hoc Ecosystem Workgroup (EWG) and Ecosystem Advisory Subpanel (EAS) are holding an online joint meeting, which is open to the public. The online meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time or until business is completed. This meeting is being conducted remotely with a web broadcast that provides the opportunity for remote public comment. In the event an outage occurs or technical issues arise that impact the experience of remote attendees, we will attempt to resolve them but ultimately we cannot guarantee that they will be resolved satisfactorily.

Purpose of the meeting

The EWG and EAS will hold a joint meeting via webinar to discuss the Pacific Council’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) projects and associated project planning. The EWG and EAS may also discuss other items relevant to ecosystem management in advance of the Pacific Council’s September 18-24, 2024, meeting. A detailed meeting agenda will be available on the Pacific Council’s website prior to the meeting.

Purpose of the meeting

The primary purpose of the meetings is to address guidance received from the Pacific Council at their June 2024 meeting.  At the August meetings, the Workgroup will likely focus on developing an outline for the Workgroup’s report to the Pacific Council in November 2024 that considers new or updated tools for SRFC management.  At the September meeting, the Workgroup will likely continue to develop the report and may discuss potential 2024 Salmon Methodology Review topics relevant to their tasking.  Additional discussions may include, but are not limited to, future meetings, workload planning, and upcoming Council agenda items.

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will convene an online meeting of its Ad Hoc Equity and Environmental Justice Committee (EEJC). This online meeting is open to the public and will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.  The scheduled ending time for this meeting is an estimate and will adjourn when business for the day is completed.

Purpose of the meeting

The EEJC will have an organizational meeting to discuss the NMFS EEJ Strategy Regional Implementation Plan.  This committee was formed by the Pacific Council at its April 2023 meeting to assist the Council in addressing EEJ issues and, in particular, to advise the Council on working with NMFS on the Regional Implementation Plan and the geographic strategic plan.  No management actions will be decided by the EEJC, but recommendations may be provided to the Pacific Council at its September 18-23, 2024 meeting.  A detailed agenda for the webinar will be available on the Pacific Council’s website prior to the meeting.
